Preceding the World War 1, to set the peace terms for the defeated Central Powers, the Treaty of Versailles was put in place to help reconstruct the world. The terms of the treaty included reshaping of borders and countries, as well as financial penalties. During the 6 months while the treaty was being conducted, Paris became the political centre of the world.

When I think about the landscape of World War 1, I imagine disease ridden trenches with rats scuttling on the dirt floor. Trench warfare occurred majorly in the middle of the war where the allies and the axes fought from dug out trenches using machine guns, heavy artillery and chemical weapons.
The open space between two sets of opposing trenches became known as no-man's land because no soldier wanted to travel the distance for fear of attack.
The area around Uluru was settled thousands of years ago and was said to have come about during the fabled dreamtime. The caves around the rock hold deep meaning for the aboriginal people and contain ancient rock paintings. The aboriginal people much rather tourists not climb the rock.
According to Australian Aboriginal Mythology, the dreamtime is a sacred era in which ancestral spirit beings created the world. 'Dreaming' is used to refer to an individual's or a group's set of beliefs or spirituality. their belief in this dreamtime keeps their traditions elaborate and allows us to differentiate them from other cultures.
Holden Caulfield is a self wallowing teenager whom detests life. He imagines the world as a gloomy and evil, placing skepticism on everything that goes well for him. He cuts himself off from the teacher who offers him shelter as he thought the teacher was too affectionate and displayed homosexual qualities. The story revolves around some characteristics of teenage rebellion where Holden believes everybody is a phoney. To mask his insecurities and tat fact that he puts himself into situations here he is taken advantaged of, he put up a facade of bravado and passivity.
The viewer is bombarded with images of violence, chaos and befuddlement. It raises questions as to who this man is and why he is half naked in a dessert with a motorhome in the background. The gun signifies self defence. The desolate landscape hints at desperation and being stranded or trapped. His run-down winnebago also give indication of this. The gas mask he holds in one hand could mean a tainted environment.
Though the backdrop and the characters are fictional, the audience feels a connection with the plot. The show is able to manipulate a viewer's emotions, coercing the viewer to sympathise with the misfortune of the characters.
Joey is a leading character in the show whom exhibits a childish manner yet is loveable and relatable. He goes through life with little skepticism and allows himself to mould with life's challenges.
