Uluru and the Dreamtime - Historical

The area around Uluru was settled thousands of years ago and was said to have come about during the fabled dreamtime. The caves around the rock hold deep meaning for the aboriginal people and contain ancient rock paintings. The aboriginal people much rather tourists not climb the rock. 

According to Australian Aboriginal Mythology, the dreamtime is a sacred era in which ancestral spirit beings created the world. 'Dreaming' is used to refer to an individual's or a group's set of beliefs or spirituality. their belief in this dreamtime keeps their traditions elaborate and allows us to differentiate them from other cultures.
